- protection of inventions, utility models, industrial designs, innovation proposals, trademarks, discoveries, IC layouts, commercial secrets, software, databases, and other intellectual property made at the institute;
- organizing and conducting marketing and patent-conjuncture research;
- commercialization of the institute’s R&D results, intellectual property, and high-tech products and support of the institute’s licensing activities and technology transfer.
The institute has a patent and license commission (Institute Director’s Order No 18 of April 21, 2008).
The institute is a member of the non-government organization “Ukrainian Association of Technology Commercialization Professionals”.
The sector has developed a database, ”Patents”, which contains information on the institute’s industrial property (inventions and utility models) and the current status of patent applications and patents.
Over the past few years, the number of patents for inventions and utility models has been increasing steadily. From 2005 to 2010, the institute was issued more than 40 Ukrainian patents.
