Volodymyr P. Poshyvalov
Mechanical scientist; born in Dnipropetrovsk on April 30, 1955. MS in mechanics, Dnipropetrovsk State University, 1977; Ph.D., Kalinin Polytechnic Institute, 1983; Senior Researcher in machinery, instrumentation, and apparatus dynamics and strength, 1990; D.Sc. , Kiev Polytechnic Institute, 1993; Professor in machinery dynamics and strength, 1999.
Engineer, Junior Researcher, Senior Researcher, Leading Researcher, and Head of Department, Vice-Director at the Institute of Technical Mechanics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the State Space Agency of Ukraine, since 1977; Professor of O. Honchar Dnipro National University (part-time), 1999-2021. Member of the expert group for evaluating the effectiveness of scientific institutions in engineering and technical sciences of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Ukraine. He was a member of the expert group for consideration of works submitted for the award of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for the development and implementation of innovative technologies in the priority area of innovative activity.
Member of two specialized scientific councils for awarding the scientific degree of Doctor of Sciences at O. Honchar Dnipro National University and Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University.
He is well-known scientist in structural creep rupture strength and durability; he has obtained a number of fundamental results on the solution of problems of the nonlinear deformation and buckling of structurally orthotropic and isotropic shells in creep with consideration for instantaneous plastic strains, loading history, and material damageability, on the development of approaches to manage the reliability of the functioning of energy systems, methods to increase the reliability and durability of structural elements due to the stimulation of self-organization processes, methods and techniques to assess the possibility of continuing the operation of complex technical systems after the expiration of the warranty period, as well as the creation of scientific methods and software for calculating the time of structural elements destruction that work in complex load regimes and at high temperatures.
He has more than 170 scientific publications including three books:
He won the V.A. Lazaryan Prize of the Dnipropetrovsk Komsomol City Committee in Mechanics in 1983 and the Prize of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic in Engineering Sciences for Young Scientists in 1986. He has been awarded the jubilee medal “100 years of M.K. Yangel”, the jubilee certificate of honor of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
