Anatolii P. Alpatov — corresponding member of the NASU, D.Sc., professor, is the head of the department of systems analysis and control systems. He has authored and co-authored ten monographs and a manual for university students. His field of interest is the dynamics of controlled multicomponent mechanical systems. He has conducted a number of topical fundamental investigations into the development of a theory of controlled motion of complex systems and methods for its simulation and analysis. He has conducted fundamental investigations into the theory of mobile control of mechanical sys-tems, has studied the dynamics of spacecraft mobile control with consideration for the type and structure of the spacecraft as a mechanical system, and has conducted an investigation into spatially developed mechanical systems with elastic linkages. He has developed: mathematical models and research techniques for the solution of space manipulator stabilization and control problems; a theory and control and stabilization methods for tethered space systems and large-size space structures including space-based solar power stations.
He headed the Medical Cybernetics Department at Dnipropetrovsk Medical Institute (Dnipropetrovsk State Medical Academy) and the Infotech and Cybernetics Department at Ukrainian State Chemical Technology University (USCTU). He was a Professor of the Automatic Control Systems Department at Dnipropetrovsk State University. He was with Ener1 Daughter Enterprise, the USA, as Head of the Group for Innovation Developments of Space Components.
He is a member of a specialized academic council at O. Honchar Dnipropetrovsk Na-tional University, a Professor of the Dedicated Computer Systems Department at USCTU, Director of the Special Engineering and Design Bureau at the Institute of Technical Mechanics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the National Space Agency of Ukraine, and a member of the Inter-Agency Space Debris Coordination Committee.
