Mazur V.L. – Physics and Technology Institute of Metals and Alloys of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

From the standpoint of classical approaches in the fields of viscous fluid mechanics and metal forming by pressure, a rolling theory has been developed that takes into account the hydrodynamic effects of lubrication, the microrelief of the surfaces of rolls and deformable metal. The regularities of grease inflow into the deformation zone have been shown taking into account the influence of the roughness of the rolls and the rolled metal. Mathematical models of the rolling process in liquid and semi-liquid friction modes have been proposed. The influence of lubrication and parameters of the rolling process on the value of the coefficient of friction in the deformation zone has been considered. The regularities of the formation of the microrelief of the surface of the deformed metal have been disclosed. Methods of providing a given microrelief of metal products in industrial conditions have been shown. Possibilities have been disclosed and recommendations are given on the choice of a rational technology for hot and cold rolling processes with lubrication of thin strips, sheet metal, pipes of their ferrous and non-ferrous metals, and improving the quality of the microrelief of metal products.

Intended for engineers and technicians in the metallurgical and machine-building industries specializing in the theory and technology of rolling production and the use of technological lubricants. It can be useful for teachers of higher educational institutions, undergraduate and graduate students studying the theory and technology of metal forming by pressure, as well as the theory of contact friction.
